Dr. Derrick Suehs, MA, EdD, is the Senior Vice President of Quantum Leadership, a privately owned consulting/education/training company. He brings over 30 plus years of leadership experience and has worked with three large hospitals in Texas and two large healthcare organizations in New York. He has been instrumental in transforming organizations through the application of quality science, analytics, and organizational development interventions.
In addition to his civilian career, Derrick served over five years in the US Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer and course director for Leadership Management and Education. Derrick’s exceptional leadership has earned him numerous local, regional, and national awards, including the Houston Quality Award and the Workforce Management Optimas’ national award for General Excellence. His work with physicians was also recognized by a national quality advocacy organization as ranking in the top 5% in the nation. This recognition was a result of exhibiting comprehensive, high-quality care across at least 21 of 32 clinical procedures and conditions.
Derrick has also made significant contributions in the field of healthcare quality and education. He served on the Board of Overseers for the Texas Quality Award and is a two-time recipient of the Texas Health Care Educator of the Year award. Dr. Suehs earned his Doctor of Education in Executive Leadership from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York. His research has primarily focused on Emotional Intelligence and Employee Engagement and has been widely read in over 150 countries by more than 1200 readers.
Derrick’s teaching experiences span multiple universities, including Syracuse University, LeMoyne College, St. John Fisher College, and Utica College at the graduate levels, where he has shared his knowledge in the fields of education and business. He also serves as a facilitator for the University of Houston, Clear Lake physician healthcare leadership certification programs.
